Dear Editors,
I have pleasure in sending you the information regarding ‘Scarecrow Sunday’ in Brampton Bryan, plus information about our parish contribution towards the Macmillan Cancer Coffee Morning. I hope that you will be able to use this information. The Scarecrow event usually attracts people from as far away as Birmingham, Central and North Wales, Worcestershire in addition to those living in South Shropshire and Herefordshire.Thank you for your time and previous publicity of our parish events.

1. Scarecrow Sunday. Sunday August 1st Brampton Bryan in the north west corner of Herefordshire on the A4113Starting at 11.00am and continuing until 5.00pm with an Evensong at 6.30pm, taken by the Archdeacon of Hereford.Scarecrow Sunday involves the whole village of Brampton Bryan. The theme this year is ‘Food’. We are hoping to have some of the world’s leading celebrity scarecrow chefs and foodies for you to meet. You will find Open Garden(s) and some quite intriguing Open Workshops, plus the online bookshop Aardvark.There will be a scarecrow trail from the church to the cricket field. Stalls and games around the village, flowers and music in the church.There will also be conducted tours around the old castle led by Mr Edward Harley who will be able to fill in all those gaps in your local historical knowledge that you have always wanted to fill. Tours will start at 12.00 and 3.00pm.Lunches (not prepared by the scarecrows!) will be served from 12.15 - 2.00pm (hot dogs available for children) after which there will be puddings and teas. There will be a dog show, so bring along your Crufts hopefuls, Children's sports and a juggler. Of course there will be a Bouncy Castle (tours of the Bouncy Castle are not offered!)St Barnabas Church is one of only six churches known to have been built during the English Commonwealth, two others that we know of are in Guyhirn Lincolnshire and Berwick on the Scottish/English borders. If you know of more please tell us.Entrance to the event will cost £2 per adult, children free. There are charges for food and the castle tours. there is ample off road FREE Car Parking.
