Minutes of the Wigmore Abbey Parochial Church Council 30.1.17 Present: Serena Askew, Richard Bailey, Gill Bilborough, Bev Dowdy, Michael Dugdale (Treasurer), June Emberton, Alastair Gloag, Carole Gloag, Jane Hopkinson, Jonathan Hopkinson (non-voting acting secretary), Trixie Morgan, Culain Morris, Gordon Place, The Rector (Chair),  Michael Sumner, Angela Thomas, Jennet Thomas. Apologies: Dee Caulton-Ball, David Gardiner, Susan Harley, James Hepworth, Roy Major, Val Morgan, Andrew Page, Robert Wells.  1. Welcome and opening prayers Opening reflection on an image of the Buurkerk in Utrecht and prayer of Bishop Thomas Ken  2. Minutes of the meeting held on 17th October 2106 Minutes agreed with an amendment in section 9f- Leinthall StarkesBev Dowdy reported that ‘the promise for 2007 will be £2,000 less than the 2016 parish share but we will endeavour to make up what we can.’ Amended minutes signed as a true record.  3. Matters arising from the minutes  a) Diocesan Safeguarding training 11th March 2017 This training will be held at Petchfield between 10a.m.-4 p.m..  Mandy McPhee, the Diocesan Safeguarding Officer. Soup and rolls will be available.  It is a regulatory requirement for churchwardens, those holding the Bishop’s licence. and any, who behalf of the church come into regular contact with children or vulnerable adults.  Action: Readers, the safeguarding representative, churchwardens, tower captains, and person leading youth groups or home-visiting.  (for full details of those required to attend see the Rector), If anyone is unable to attend they will need to travel to another venue where the training is offered. (A handout is attached) Nine people at the meeting indicated that they would attend. The Rector is already aware of four more.  b) Appointment of Safeguarding officer Culain Morris has indicated that he wishes to stand down from the post of Safeguarding Officer at the AGM.  It is hoped to appoint a new Safeguarding Officer for the parish at the APCM. Action: Church committees to canvas for possible candidates.  4. Correspondence Church committee secretaries should have received documents entitled ‘Giving for life continuing the journey.  This will be brought to the church committee AGMs.  Sheet 4 has a questionnaire each church will be asked to complete. Action: let the Rector know by email or phone if you haven’t received them.  The Rector said that this is to review our practice not to pass judgement.
